WHO I AM

I am a certified Speech Language Pathologist who has been passionate about my successful work with the pediatric population for 25+ years. My energy and drive have created a positive environment that helps children learn difficult skills in a fun way.  I am continually learning and improving my craft while still using those successful ones from years past.

I’ve worked in many settings but found the most rewarding success is helping clients and families in the home and decided to launch my Look Do Say approach.

I believe that integrating the whole body through motor, sensory and cognitive approaches is the most successful combination to help clients grow.  My extensive experience working in occupational therapy settings has helped me to learn about the whole body and brain development.  There are so many benefits to combining motor planning and sensory input to develop speech/language skills.

I love working with all children with strengths in Early Intervention, Autism, ADHD and regulation/behavior.  Helping teens and families is always an area that I find rewarding. My super powers is that I am skilled at connecting with clients and families.  I create a motivating environment through both functional and structured activities that help children achieve their fullest potential.

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in SW Chicago then moved to SW Minneapolis where I raised 2 fun loving girls and now I’m settling into SW Austin. I attended Eastern Illinois University and started my career in the public schools where I found I was not reaching kids the as much as I hoped.  I then spent many years in outpatient clinics where I learned the benefits of a multi disciplinary approach.

I truly believe that learning some Chicago ‘grit’ and Minneapolis ‘nice’ has helped me grow into a dynamic Speech/Language Pathologist. Now it’s time to add some Texas lol. I love exploring  food and the outdoors.  Yoga keeps me grounded. I enjoy cooking and cleaning, (thanks mom) which is likely why I see the importance of teaching through activities of daily living. I incorporate it all into learning.  I strive to create a happy work-life balance and am fortunate I see the glass half full.
